Global SAP Transformation Through SD Expertise
As part of a major ERP transformation, Interval supported a global automotive manufacturer in moving from SAP Business Suite 7 to SAP S/4HANA - delivering key expertise in Sales and Distribution to shape processes and enable long-term success.
Situation
A multinational vehicle manufacturer is undertaking a large-scale transformation of its enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems in response to SAP’s announcement to end maintenance of Business Suite 7 core applications by 2027.
To reduce risk and future-proof its operations, the business launched an SAP programme to implement SAP S/4HANA across more than 20 global regions. Poland was selected as the first rollout country, with around 100 office-based users and several thousand factory employees relying on SAP systems.
Interval was brought in to provide dedicated consulting expertise in the SAP Sales and Distribution (SD) module - a critical element of the transformation.
Approach
Interval’s consultants were embedded directly within the client team to deliver key aspects of the programme, including:
Analysing existing business and SAP workflows
Identifying gaps and improvement opportunities
Designing new templates and processes aligned to SAP S/4HANA best practices
Transitioning from SAP GUI to Fiori
Standardising custom reports and creating system demo recordings and manuals to support training
The work combined data-driven SAP analysis with local business knowledge and subject matter expertise. Outputs were documented in detail and presented to the steering committee for review and approval.
Throughout the project, Interval’s team supported change management, knowledge transfer, and user training - ensuring the local team in Poland was engaged and supported every step of the way.
Outcomes
The SAP SD workstream was successfully delivered, establishing a strong foundation for user acceptance testing (UAT) and go-live in the second half of 2024. Key outcomes included:
Fully mapped and updated SD processes aligned to SAP S/4HANA
Transition plan from GUI to Fiori interfaces
Reusable SD templates and documentation for future rollouts
Standardised and modernised reporting tools
Strong platform for change management and end-user training
The broader programme is ongoing and will roll out to over 20 global regions. With SAP S/4HANA officially supported until 2040, the transformation will provide the business with long-term benefits in automation, performance, security and mobile usability.
