Europass: what is it and should I use it?

What is Europass

Europass is an official European Union initiative, run by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion. Its purpose is to make people's skills and qualifications clearly understood across Europe, and to support anyone learning or working in the region.

It has been running for over two decades and has grown significantly. Europass has now reached more than 10 million registered users, with close to 150 million visits to the platform since its most recent version launched in 2020, and around 10 million CVs downloaded every year.

Who can use it

This is the part that surprises most people: Europass is not limited to EU citizens, EU residents, or people currently living in Europe. Anyone, anywhere in the world, can create a Europass profile and use its tools for free. If you are considering studying or working in Europe at any point in the future, or simply want a clean, internationally recognised way to present your CV, there is no barrier to entry.

There is no cost involved at any point. No premium tier, no paywalled features. It is funded and maintained by the EU as a public service.
